Camp LeJeune Civil Litigation Attorney Texas

Camp LeJeune Civil Litigation Attorney Texas

According to Veterans in Texas: A Demographic Study, last year’s estimates indicate that approximately 7% of the civilian population 18 years and older in Texas were veterans, accounting for 1,509,835 residents throughout the state.

Some of these courageous men and women who have served our country were not always Texas residents. For those who lived or worked at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina from 1953 to 1987, their health could be at risk. Over a million people lived or worked at Camp Lejeune from 1953 to 1987. Tens of thousands of them have died or are suffering.

The water supply at Camp Lejeune contained volatile organic compounds, including known carcinogens at up to 280 times the standard safety level. An environmental study revealed four core chemicals and 70 secondary chemicals were identified in the water including trichloroethylene (TCE), tetrachloroethylene (PCE), vinyl chloride (VC), and benzene. These chemicals impacted the health and well-being of tens of thousands of our military members, their families, and civilians who worked and lived on the base.

Exposure to these toxins through the water’s use caused countless chronic diseases, fatalities, and health complications including a variety of cancer diagnoses, Parkinson’s disease, birth defects, stillbirths, infertility, miscarriages, and other ailments.

Now, there is legislation that can help those who suffered injuries, illnesses, or the loss of their loved ones because of the contamination.

The U.S. Senate passed the Honoring Our PACT Act to improve healthcare and benefits for veterans exposed to toxic substances, which includes the Camp Lejeune Justice Act. The Act allows those impacted from living or working on the Base to pursue legal action against the U.S. government for toxic water exposure.

At Glen Larson Law, our Austin Personal Injury Attorneys are here to help Texas residents who have been impacted by the water contamination on the base, so they can finally get the justice and compensation they are entitled to.

We would like all our Texas residents to know, just because you live 1,400 miles away from the base where you once served, that does not preclude you from pursuing justice. We want to help.

We pursue dedicated, driven results for our clients, and there is never a charge to talk to an attorney. We stand ready to help you.

What Legal Remedies are Provided by the Camp Lejeune Justice Act

For over three decades, brave U.S. military personnel and their families, contractors, and civilians were unknowingly impacted by the ongoing water contamination at Camp Lejeune.

Before the Camp Lejeune Justice Act, veterans, military family members and civilians who suffered from diseases, deformities, and the loss of loved ones had no legal recourse to seek compensation for the preventable illnesses and fatalities that resulted from the negligent storage of toxic chemicals on the base.

When the Act passed, it opened the door for military personnel and the families, civilians, and veterans who lived and worked at Camp Lejeune to seek reparations outside of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Now, those who suffer or have suffered from one of the presumptive conditions due to exposure, can seek compensation via the judicial system without the U.S. government asserting previously specified immunity.

If you are one of the over 1.5 million military veterans who live in Texas and lived or worked on Camp Lejeune for at least 30 days between 1953 to 1987, we want to hear your story. Glen Larson Law Injury Attorneys is not in the business of churning cases through our office. We are committed to pursuing justice for our fellow Texans, so they can take back control of their lives.

Damages awarded from the Camp Lejeune Justice Act are decided in the courts and paid out to victims through a U.S. Treasury Department called the Treasury Judgment Fund.

We are proud to provide the necessary legal efforts to hold Camp Lejeune liable for injuries and fatalities caused by contaminated water on the base, and failures by U.S. Marine officials to act on the issue.
